    Vasaloppet has entered its second century, and on Sunday, March 2 at 08:00, the 101st Vasaloppet will take place! Millions of TV viewers worldwide will follow the 15,800 participants from the mass start in Sälen to the classic finish line in Mora. Can Emilie Fleten from Norway become the first-ever female skier to win three consecutive Vasaloppet titles? Will a Swede take the men’s title again? Could the record time be broken? Here are all the conditions ahead of this year's edition of the world's largest long-distance ski race.

    Major efforts in the Vasaloppet Arena

    Due to the quick weather changes with above-freezing temperatures over the past week, parts of the Vasaloppet Arena are currently very wet. The problems are most severe at the starting point in Sälen and along parts of the Sälen – Mångsbodarna stretch, especially around the first checkpoint in Smågan, where water is seeping up from the marshes and streams are overflowing. Intensive work is now underway to divert water and secure the snow supply for the weekend's races.

    Jenny Larsson won Tjejvasan 2025

    Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, won Tjejvasan – the world’s largest ski race exclusively for women – ahead of Louise Lindström, Team Eksjöhus, and Julie Kvale Støstad, Team Ramudden. The junior class was won by Alva Hedström from Funäsdalens IF, with Anna Aukland from Norway in second place and Ines Lignell from Lucksta IF in third.

    Everything ahead of Tjejvasan 2025 – the 37th edition

    On Saturday, February 22, at 09:00, Tjejvasan – the world’s largest ski race exclusively for women – will begin. The 30 km course runs from Oxberg to Mora. Interest in the race is high, with an increase in registrations compared to last year. This year’s race, the 37th edition, has so far attracted over 6,500 participants. Anyone keen to ski thirty fantastic kilometres can still register, with registration open until race day. Tjejvasan is now also a Ski Classics Challenger race, featuring both a senior competition class (D21) and a junior competition class (D17–20). Sveriges Television has, per tradition, broadcast Tjejvasan live ever since 2012. We can now present – also per tradition – all the conditions ahead of Tjejvasan 2025.

    Counties, nations, statistics, and interesting facts ahead of Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2025

    On Friday, February 21, at 09:00, Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2025 kicks off with Vasaloppet 30, a 30 km race from Oxberg to Mora. This is the first of the Winter Week's 14 races, with distances ranging from 9 to 90 km. The week will culminate on "Vasaloppet Sunday," March 2, with the 101st Vasaloppet in history. Currently, more than 54,000 participants from 66 different nations are registered, and the forecast indicates that over 57,000 skiers will attend the Winter Week 2025.

    During Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2025, Vasaloppet has partnered with the photography service Sportograf. In all races during Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2025 (except the children's race Barnens Vasalopp), Sportograf’s skilled photographers will be present across the entire Vasaloppet Arena to capture participants’ journeys toward the finish in Mora.

    Who will win Tjejvasan and Vasaloppet 2025?

    February will be an intense month for cross-country skiing, especially in Dalarna. The World Cup in Falun, Ski Classics in Orsa, Tjejvasan from Oxberg to Mora, and then the 101st Vasaloppet on the first Sunday in March – all happening alongside the World Championships in Trondheim, Norway. Ski Classics has now completed 6 of the season's 14 races. The seventh race, Jizerská50 in the Czech Republic, will take place on Sunday, February 9. Here’s an overview of the current standings.
