Vasaloppet’s Winter Week 2025

Each year, Vasaloppet’s Winter Week consists of several different cross-country ski races over ten days, culminating in the classic Vasaloppet on the first Sunday of March. All races take place in the Vasaloppet Arena, the 90 km scenic arena between Sälen and the famous finish line portal in Mora.

The first race on the first Friday is Vasaloppet 30 from Oxberg to Mora. That Saturday, Tjejvasan runs on the same stretch as Vasaloppet 30. Sunday’s Öppet Spår Sunday starts in Sälen and runs with classic ski style. Sunday also has Ungdomsvasan for youths up to 16 years of age, starting in Eldris and Hökberg.

Öppet Spår Monday has several options: the race is freestyle, meaning that you can either ski classic or skate. It’s also possible to choose your distance: Öppet Spår Monday 90, Öppet Spår Monday 45 or Öppet Spår Monday 30. On Tuesday, it’s time for Vasaloppet 45, which starts in Oxberg and takes a turn along the shore of the Oxberg lake before joining the Vasaloppet track.

Stafettvasan runs on Friday, consisting of five sections split between relay racers from Sälen to Mora. That night, Nattvasan 90, Nattvasan 45 and Nattvasan 30 start. Skate style is permitted and you can participate individually or in pairs. On Saturday, it’s time for the beginners’ race Vasaloppet 10 from Eldris to the finish, where participants are encouraged to wear vintage equipment should they wish to. The week concludes with the world’s largest long-distance ski race, the big Vasaloppet what’s been called the main artery of Swedish skiing!

But Vasaloppet’s Winter Week is not just about skiing. There is so much more happening! For example, don’t miss out on visiting the finish area in Mora, which attracts around 200,000 visitors every winter. Or the Vasaloppet opening ceremony in Mora Church, which has been held as per tradition since 1922, featuring a celebrity speaker and the crowning of the year’s Kranskulla.
